Almost war...

We mourn the lives of the thousands of dead in the Middle East, and well we should. But contrast that to the tens of millions of lives lost in WWII. Now THAT was war.

Every day, with every news broadcast, I'm more and more convinced that we are heading towards a large scale, multi-national World War that will end with millions dead. And in the end, perhaps that is the only way.

Today it is reported that the Hezbollah are using advanced Russian made weaponry in their fight against Israel. Odd... I thought the Russian arms sales were only to Iran, that peaceloving defensive minded nation. You mean, *GASP*, the Iranian government is supplying Hezbollah with weaponry? NO!

In the Blue corner : The US and Israel
And in the Red corner : Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas ... (and the list of moderate Arab countries aggresively overtaken by the radical extremists threatens to expand)

The audience waits with baited breath as the nicks and bruises mount, giving just a hint of the the blood that may very well pour...

450,000 casualities (American soldiers)in WW2. Today we have not enough spine to think there is any moral cause worthy of even one American soldier. Are we losing it? I think so- and at some point when Israel needs us we will not be there.
Is that too end times for you? Nevertheless I say it is happening, and these are indeed exciting times to live in- to laugh and cry as we see the tumult.

I believe that the world lost upwards of 17-18MM military. What was even MORE unfortunate, is that it was the first (and only?) war where there were MORE civilian deaths than military. I spoke with a gal from Russia several months ago and we talked about WWII, and in particular, she spoke about the part of the war where they fought the Germans on the way to Stalingrad (and then subsequently pushed them all the way back). In that "little" part of the war, several million military died. She said that there wasn't a single family that was not affected.

Now THAT was a horrible war (and yet a noble war for those who fought with the Allies) and I do thank God for the 'Greatest Generation'. Amen.

WE are SO dang lucky.
